Brace Treatment and Exercise Therapy. A deformation often gives no complaints. If someone does experience pain, that is a reason for treatment. Especially when it comes to young children. Therapy in this youth group focuses on pain reduction through exercise therapy and reduction of deformity using a brace.
If the deformation (also at a later age) remains below 40 degrees (< 40 degrees Cobb’s angle) surgical intervention is often not necessary. The treatment for (young) adults then consists of Scoliosis Specific Exercise Therapy (Schroth) aimed at teaching correct body posture, trunk stability, sagittal balance, muscle strengthening and activating exercises.
